Mrs Kerrie Daunter, Headteacher
Mrs Daunter has a wealth of experience in education leadership and teaching in both the state primary and independent prep school sectors. Prior to becoming Head of Kingscourt School in January 2023, she spent five happy years as Head of The Royal Prep School, and previously nine years at Barfield Prep School where she enjoyed a range of roles including Deputy Head (Academic), Head of Pre-Prep and Head of EYFS. After completing her B.Ed (Hons) degree in 1997, Mrs Daunter began her career in the South West, in the beautiful city of Wells. It is here that she developed a passion for creative education and feels strongly that the arts play an integral and important part of a child’s education. Mrs Daunter has taught a variety of subjects across the whole primary age-range, from Reception to Year 6.
Mr Tom Allen
Deputy Headteacher, DDSL
Mr Allen has worked at Kingscourt since 2013, where he started as class teacher and Head of Languages at the school. Having studied BA in Languages and European Politics at the University of Southampton, Mr Allen has taught English in France and also to EFL students at International schools before completing his PCGE. Since starting at Kingscourt Mr Allen has transformed the languages curriculum, with Spanish being taught from Nursery to Year 6. As well as languages, Mr Allen is Head of Computing and lead on the digital transformation across the school in recent years, including teaching, classrooms and pupil devices. Mr Allen is also Year 6 teacher, ensuring pupils are best prepared for the next important stage in their lives and education as they finish their time at Kingscourt.
Outside of school, Mr Allen enjoys being active with sport, running and walking his border collie, who occasionally makes an appearance at the school. He enjoys travel, using this time to keep his language skills on top form and bring those experiences back into the classroom to share with pupils.
Mrs Gabby Armitage
Designated Safeguarding Lead
Mrs Armitage has worked at Kingscourt since 2001, joining the staff as a Teaching Assistant when her daughter started in the Nursery, gaining a wealth of experience across all year groups. Prior to this she was engaged in administrative and financing roles for legal and corporate business sector entities, including legal partnerships, Marconi and IBM. Encouraged and mentored by the headteacher and founder of Kingscourt School, she embarked on a teaching degree, graduating with a BA in Primary Practice from Winchester University in 2012. She then went on to complete a Cognita PGCE with the University of Buckingham in 2014 taking up a post as class teacher in the same year. As well as Year 3’s teacher, Mrs Armitage is also PSHE Lead, Clubs Co-ordinator - organising all the extra-curricular after-school activities for the children - and Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Outside of school, Mrs Armitage enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, stepsons and all her extended family and friends. She is well known for her love of animals, having many pets including a dog, a pony, four cats, a rabbit and three hamsters. As well as caring for all her animals, her hobbies include walking her beloved Cockapoo, Daisy, horse riding, reading and Pilates.
Mrs Harriet Uwalaka
Head of Early Years
Mrs Uwalaka is an Early Years specialist who is passionate about creative teaching methods and putting magic into the curriculum. Prior to becoming the Head of Early Years at Kingscourt School she supported Horris Hill Preparatory School as their Head of Lower School to found and create their new Pre-Prep and Nursery. Previous to this she was the Head of Early Years at Cheam Preparatory school.
Mrs Uwalaka has taught all infant year groups but the Early Years is where her passion lies. She completed an MA in Early Years Education specialising in creativity in education. Mrs Uwalaka also lists outdoor learning and transparent practice as interests.
Mr Sarah Ebery
Chair of Governors
